What is Prayer?

We at Ascent are a praying community. Prayer is conversation with God. It involves spending time in God's presence and purposeful communication. Our communication consists of both talking and creating space to listen. We believe prayer is for EVERYBODY and not just for a select few.

"Prayer is not only communication but having ourselves be formed more like Him through such intimate communication."
- Ruth Haley Barton

Prayer Team

Prayer Team Group_1.jpg

Ascent has a multigenerational team of people who are passionate about prayer and want to grow in the area of prayer. Our vision is that we are praying first about what God is already doing before we do anything. Being reminded that the Spirit is in the midst of everything Ascent is doing. As a team we collaborate and and create opportunities for our community to grow in the area of prayer and other spiritual practices.

You crown the year with a bountiful harvest;
even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.
The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy.
The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain.
They all shout and sing for joy!

Psalm 65:11-13 (NLT)

YOUR STORY MATTERS

"Story is the heartbeat of God, the primary form for revealing who we are, who God is, how the world is broken, and how God intends to restore us and the world. We believe, too, that no one escapes harm over the course of their lifetime. Therefore we all have stories that need healing and restoration."
- The Allender Center

You have a story that needs to be told. We want to hear more about YOUR story. Stories of joy. Places where you have seen God break into life and bring about restoration. We believe that God is always birthing something new and when these moments happen we want to rejoice with you.
