I am an elementary school teacher with 20 years experience. I know trying to teach your kids can be pretty frustrating (why do our kids think we know nothing?) and they often are more open to listening to someone else (who likely says the exact same thing you just said). I am wondering if there are other teachers who would be willing to offer support to parents as needed by listing our area of expertise and how we might be able to support their child or family. For example, I have taught 2nd - 5th grade, have been a math specialist (which mean I understand the "new math" your kids are learning), am very familiar with Google Classroom, and I am a social-emotional learning specialist.
I don't want to flood parents with more resources or try to take the place of schools or their teachers. What do you think would be helpful, parents?
